Paediatric First Aid

Paediatric First Aid (Level 3)

Duration - 2 days

Cost - £120

Ideal for teachers, nursery workers, nannies and anyone looking after babies and children in a professional capacity. This course meets the Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements.


It will enable you to gain the skills to deal with serious childhood medical conditions and emergency first aid situations. Topics covered include: -

  • Legislation, Responsibilities and Reporting
  • Action in an emergency
  • Primary and secondary survey
  • Unresponsive, breathing and non-breathing infant and child
  • Defibrillation
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Seizures, epilepsy and febrile convulsions
  • Bites and stings
  • Fractures/sprains and strains
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Electric shock
  • Effects of heat and cold
  • Poisoning
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Meningitis
  • Sickle cell anaemia

The course consists of on-going practical exercises throughout each day together with verbal and written assessments. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for 3 years.



Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Level 3)

Duration - 1 day

Cost - £70

Ideal for teachers, nursery workers, nannies and anyone looking after babies and children in a professional capacity. This course focuses on emergency situations that may occur including: -

  • Legislation, Responsibilities and Reporting
  • Action in an emergency
  • Primary survey
  • Unresponsive, breathing and non-breathing infant and child
  • Defibrillation
  • Shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Choking
  • Seizures and Epilepsy
  • Bites and stings

Assessment consists of  practical exercises throughout each day together with verbal questioning and written papers. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate which is valid for 3 years.
