Anaphylaxis is the body's over-reaction to an allergen. It is estimated that half a million people in the UK have suffered an anaphylaxis reaction to wasp/bee stings and a quarter of a million to nuts. Around 20 people die of anaphylaxis in the UK every year.

Many sufferers carry Epi-pens to counteract the symptoms but in time of distress may have difficulty using them or their condition may worsen requiring immediate medical attention.

This course will enable you to recognise the symptoms and to provide effective assistance to those suffering an anaphylactic reaction. It will enable you to: -

  • Identifying the causes of anaphylaxis
  • Understanding the symptoms and effects
  • Maintaining the casualty's airway
  • Use of auto-injectors (Epi-pens)
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
